WHAT IS ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAMM (EEG)?

Over View

An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test used to notice issues related to electrical activity of the brain.
An electroencephalogram tracks and records brain wave patterns, little metal discs with skinny wires (electrodes) are placed on the scalp, and so send signals to a PC to record the results. Normal electrical activity within the brain makes a recognizable pattern. Through an electroencephalogram, doctors will search for abnormal patterns that indicate seizures and alternative issues

An electroencephalogram is one of the most diagnostic tests for epilepsy. An electroencephalogram may also play a task in identification alternative brain disorders.

Why an EEG?

An electroencephalogram is employed to observe issues within the electrical activity of the brain that will be related to certain brain disorders. The measurements given by an electroencephalogram are used to make sure or rule out varied conditions, including:

  • Seizure disorders (such as epilepsy)
  • Head injury
  • Encephalitis (inflammation of the brain)
